Accommodation in Malaysia

Malaysia Travel Plan offers Malaysia accommodation options that radiate the atmosphere and charm of the travel destination you’re visiting. For the larger cities we selected Malaysia accommodation based on a combination of comfort and location. In Cherating for instance, you’ll stay in your own chalet at a charming guest house. Whenever possible during your visits to tropical islands you’ll spend the night in a cabin on or near the beach. While you're in the tropical rainforest of Taman Negara you’ll spend the night in a cosy wooden chalet and during our treks straight through the jungle, you’ll sleep close to nature in lightweight double occupancy tents. We personally truly enjoy staying at the home of a local. You can choose to either experience the authentic kampung life in a small fishing village or you can stay in a somewhat more comfortable home.

Malaysia Travel Plan uses a category of 1 to 5 to rate the accommodation in Malaysia modules and suggested itineraries. Our standard is category 3, and in general the comfortable accommodation in Malaysia we mention in the website falls into this category. This means good, comfortable accommodation without being over-luxurious, which has its' own private shower and toilet, and often has a typical Malaysian ambience. If you would like to stay in accommodation rated 4 or 5, please let us know and we'll adjust your travel itinerary accordingly.

Accommodation in Malaysia - Homestay with Malay family

1. Very basic overnight accommodation
Basic Malaysia accommodation in a hut/tent with limited facilities. This type of Malaysia accommodation is used during treks through the jungle which last several days.

2. Simple accommodation
Simple but reasonably comfortable. Your own room with basic toilet facilities. In Cherating you'll spend the night in a rustic cabin of a charming guest house, with fan or air conditioning. Homestays, spending the night at the home of a local, and jungle lodges on Borneo also are accommodation featured in this category.

3. Comfortable accommodation
Resort/ room with bathroom. This is our standard, and most accommodation in Malaysia falls into this category. Clean, charming and well-kept accommodation, with air conditioning, full of character and in good locations. Most accommodation options in this category have a swimming pool.

4. Very comfortable accommodation
Spacious bungalows or rooms with extra attention to interior decorating, additional facilities and a higher level of comfort. The beach resorts on the tropical islands of Lang Tengah and Langkawi are examples of accommodation with this rating.

5. Luxurious accommodation
Spacious bungalow or room with luxurious entourage, large bathroom, swimming pool and additional facilities. These hotels are only offered if they add extra value to your stay, for instance because of their location.

We have chosen not to add these hotels to our Malaysia accommodation options since they are very large 5 star hotels, usually all-inclusive. However perhaps you would you want to treat yourself after a hard year at work, or are celebrating something special, a honeymoon or anniversary for instance. Let us know and we'll do our best to arrange something that little bit special.
